A planning application by RAF Boulmer for improvements at the Tedder Play Park in Longhoughton has received the green light from council planners.

"This development will provide an excellent facility enabling safe and fun outdoor activity for young people across the whole Longhoughton community, enabled by the collaboration and commitment of RAF Boulmer, Longhoughton Parish Council and the RAF Benevolent Fund.”

There had been one objection from a local resident with concerns about noise levels from the proposed MUGA.

Planning officer Stephanie Forster reported: ‘The proposed play area extension, by virtue of its design and materials, would be similar to the existing play area. It is considered that the proposed MUGA would enhance the park and the facilities which are already in existence.”

“It is not considered that the proposals would increase the noise coming from the play park from the existing noise level.’

The proposal will focus on removing dated equipment and replacing it with the modern equivalent and upgraded safety surfacing.

The aim is to upgrade the park facilities for multiple age groups, allowing one place for toddlers, teenagers and school children to interact accordingly and safely.

The proposal also includes a designated picnic area.

It would be maintained by Defence Estates.
