Northumberland Homes Ltd has submitted the proposal for a range of four and five bedroom detached properties on land at the south-west of Townfoot Farm.

Outline planning permission was granted last year for seven properties.

A report accompanying the application explains that it was originally intended to demolish some of the older stable buildings and create five new-build dwellings, whilst also converting two of the existing barn buildings into additional dwellings.

However, after reviewing the barn structures they were found to be structurally unsound and lacked of usable head room in some areas.

It was decided that the best route would be to deconstruct these units, and construct two additional new-build dwellings in their place.

‘The footprints and envelope of the buildings are designed to reflect the intended high-end feel of the properties,’ states the report.
