The Camping and Caravanning Club has received planning permission to install 11 all-weather pitches in place of grass pitches at its Dunstan Hill site, near Embleton.

Consultant Sarah Butterfield, in a report submitted with the application, explained: ‘The proposed improvements are on an existing, well-established camping and caravanning club site and will improve the visitor facilities available.

‘The proposals… would not increase the site size, number of pitches available or alter the existing site layout. There would be no increase in the overall number of visitors the site could accommodate.’

There were no objections to the application.

Approving the scheme using delegated powers, Tony Lowe, senior planning officer at Northumberland County Council, reported: ‘It is considered that the proposal constitutes a sustainable form of development suitable for the site.’
