Ornate lamps in the centre of the village which had been in a poor state have all been painted thanks to funding from Coun Renner-Thompson’s local member fund.

She revealed there are plans to improve lighting on Radcliffe Road, again with funding from Coun Renner-Thompson.

The parish was informed by Northumberland County Council that it would have to stump up £9,000 for three new lights.

“We’ve had a problem there with quite a large gap between the Grace Darling Museum to the next light on the left hand side going out of the village,” explained Coun Brook. “It’s caused quite a problem for people who want to come into the village, especially during the winter nights.”

Bamburgh WI will pay for the restoration of a wooden bench outside Blacketts. The village warden has agreed to carry out the work for £80.
