The online event, which takes place at 2.30pm on Thursday, July 30, will reveal the new-look brand and digital offer for Visit Northumberland, following the decision of Northumberland County Council and Northumberland Tourism to join forces.

This came on the back of the council’s leadership placing tourism at the heart of Covid-19 recovery efforts, vowing to ensure that the county’s visitor economy comes back ‘stronger than before’ as one of the six planks of its economic plan.

The new digital offer has been developed with award-winning advertising and marketing agency Drummond Central and it is claimed it will offer visitors to the website ‘the opportunity to be immersed in experiences showcasing the very best that Northumberland has to offer’, as well as an online listing and booking system for businesses.

Council leader Peter Jackson said: “The county council has invested heavily to ensure that tourism in Northumberland can prosper despite the challenges of recovery that are upon us.”

The webinar also aims to bring the county’s businesses large and small together to hear their thoughts on recovery from Covid-19 and to explore opportunities for the future.

Participants will have the opportunity to hear from Patricia Yates, from VisitBritain, Bernard Donoghue, from the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions, and Tourism Alliance director, Kurt Janson.

Cllr Cath Homer, the cabinet member for tourism said: “This event will showcase the new brand and high-quality digital offer which we have been working on to bring to the tourism industry.

“Drummond Central has worked with us to capture the passion, quality and stunning imagery that we are able to bring to people across the world, enticing them to enjoy a great visitor experience in Northumberland.

“We are really pleased to now have a newly-formed Visit Northumberland ream which is focused on delivering the very best for tourism in Northumberland and this is an exciting offer for businesses at no cost.”
