Wooler Parish Council is considering buying new lights to improve The Peth and lower Church Street – both key gateways to the town centre.

“We’ve had a lot of good feedback about the lights and now need to think about next year,” said chairman, Coun Mark Mather.

“The idea is to put something on the lamp posts going up The Peth and at the bottom end of Church Street.

“We don’t want to add so much that it takes a week to put them up but these would be quick to put up.”

It was noted that a wind rating would need to be obtained from Northumberland County Council.

Coun Mark Trotter raised the issue of health and safety and it was agreed to buy 10 hi-vis jackets with Wooler Parish Council written on the back.
