Derelict 'blight on the landscape' in Northumberland town set to be demolished

The planned demolition of one of Berwick’s biggest eyesores has been welcomed by a local councillor.

The demolition of former engine sheds on Billendean Terrace, Spittal – most recently a J T Dove site – is due to be considered shortly by Northumberland County Council to allow for a new development.

Coun Georgina Hill, county councillor for Berwick East, said: “This has been an eyesore for many years and something I was determined to help resolve when I was elected.

Residents coming down from the Highcliffe and Eastcliffe Estate areas will hopefully not have to put up with this for too much longer.

“This blight on the landscape is in sharp contrast to the stunning views that residents in this area, otherwise have.

“One nearby resident told be that she was going to have a party when the old Doves building comes down!”
