The project was discussed at Alnmouth Parish Council’s meeting in the Hindmarsh Hall.
It was indicated that resurfacing repairs would cost around £1,300.
Potential funding avenues are being explored but Coun John Wilson suggested that the parish council fund the costs to ensure the work is done ahead of the new visitor season.
He said: “If we go down the funding route now it is going to take time and wouldn’t be done by Easter. The parish council has reserves and I would propose we go for immediate repair and fix.”
However, members decided to defer a decision until finances are assessed closer to the end of the financial year.
Coun Wilson also suggested that the formation of community group could help draw in funds which the parish council is unable to access. The council will explore the idea further.
