The news was welcomed by members of Alnwick Town Council, although there was disappointment that hoped for junction improvements at Wagonway Road and South Road (Barter Books pedestrian entrance) were not included.
The three transport priorities submitted by the town council were the St James’ footpath, Wagonway Road junction and improved pedestrian crossings in the town centre.
The Local Transport Plan will go before Northumberland County Council’s Local Area Council for approval on Thursday.
