Parish councillors had previously raised concerns about the scale and design of the original plans for the Riverside Road site which boasts views towards the Aln estuary,
Applicants Gary and Carolyn Cunningham have now submitted plans which aim to alleviate those concerns, particularly by reducing the impact of lighting.

Hide AdMrs Cunningham, speaking at an Alnmouth Parish Council meeting, said: “We have considerably amended the plans.
“We have now recessed all the windows on the west elevation looking towards the estuary and redesigned the house to achieve an overhang of 4.2m covering above the windows of the main living area.
"That will really mitigate the amount of light that can get out of the house.”
Parish council chairman Shaun Whyte said: “I think the amended design is an improvement on the original.”

Hide AdCllr George Ternent added: “The shape looks like it will blend in a lot better.”
Cllr Ed Williams said: “A lot of thought has gone into the changes and I think they have tried very hard to take on board the comments that were made previously.
"I still do have some reservations but in these situations it is compromising all round that gets you to where you want to be.”
The existing property was built in 1964 with an ‘upside down’ design to make the most of the views from a first floor lounge.
