On Saturday, at the Alnwick Branch of the Labour Party’s weekly street surgery, members were lucky to be joined by representatives of the Public Service Alliance and Unison, the UKs leading public service trade union.
Having this support, and seeing the dedication and commitment of unions to residents across Northumberland, was a poignant and meaningful way to celebrate Heart Unions Week.
Once a year, it is important to take the time to remember the work the trade union and Labour movement has achieved over the past 100 years.
Without the constant battles of trade unionists and Labour activists, many of the rights and benefits we take for granted today may have never existed.
Because of this, it is more important than ever to tell residents that these rights are not a given and without strong opposition to this right-wing Government, we could see many laws and rights protecting everything from workers to wildlife repealed.
In 2018, Alnwick and Northumberland residents can rest assured that they have a committed and strong Labour Party to stand up against this threat.
With our membership bigger than ever, and growing still, the biggest political party in Northumberland will continue to engage with residents and take a stand against the Tories and everything they represent.
Thanks again to the PSA, TUC and trades unions for all you do.
