Police are warning people of the dangers of free running on roofs after a youth was reported for doing so in Alnwick.

Neighbourhood Inspector Paul Truscott is stressing the dangers of this and is working with building owners to help restrict access to roofs.

Inspector Truscott said: “I need to stress to people that running and jumping on roofs of buildings is such a dangerous thing to do. It is not safe and someone could end up seriously injured.

“We are working with local residents and business owners to help deter people from gaining access to the roofs but we are also asking members of the public to report any incidents of this nature to us.”

Anyone who sees anyone putting themselves at risk to contact the Alnwick Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101 ext 69191.
