POLICE horses have been seen on patrol in north Northumberland to maintain a force presence in the area.
The horses and riders have been hitting the streets of Alnwick over the last few weeks as the area was able to bid for them.
Alnwick Neighbourhood Police Sergeant Neville Wharrier said: “The mounted section is an excellent way for us to engage with the public and really helps with visible policing in Alnwick.
“The horses provide a high profile reassuring side to policing that our communities seem to respond well to.
“We’ve used the horses on a number of occasions recently and we plan to again in the future.”
