Police are starting their ‘lighter nights’ operation, to target anti-social behaviour in various north Northumberland locations.

The focus of the crack down will be Alnwick, Amble and Rothbury.

It will target youth anti-social behaviour and the spill-out of punters from pubs during the summer evenings.

Officers will also be trying to combat anti-social behaviour in relation to young drivers.

In addition, police will be targeting poaching activity in rural parts of Northumberland.

○ Police investigating a crash on the Spine Road, in Cramlington, are appealing for information.

A silver Skoda, black Kia and a grey Vauxhall were involved in Monday morning’s collision on the A189 southbound, prior to the junction for the B1326. It happened just before 9.30am.

One passenger, a 76-year-old woman, was taken to hospital and has since died. Nobody else was seriously injured.

The road was closed for around four hours as emergency services attended and the vehicles were recovered.

Now officers want to hear from anybody who witnessed the incident, or who may have dash-cam footage, to get in touch to assist with their inquiries.
