Police officer injured in crash in Northumberland

A police officer remains in hospital after injuring his leg in a crash west of Alnwick last night.

At 7.40pm last night, police were informed of a collision involving a police car and another car at the Lemmington crossroads, where the Lemmington Bank road meets the B6341 across Alnwick Moor.

As reported by the Gazette yesterday, it closed the B6341 to traffic and motorists were advised to avoid the area.

A police spokeswoman said: "Emergency services attended and a male officer and the driver of the second car were taken to Northumbria Hospital. The officer remains in hospital and is receiving treatment for a leg injury. The woman is believed to have suffered minor injuries and has been released from hospital."
