Police making enquiries after garden furniture damaged in Alnwick fire

Garden furniture was damaged in a fire in Alnwick on Tuesday afternoon.

Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service received a call about a fire in the garden of a property on St Michael’s Lane just before 4.30pm.

The Alnwick fire crew attended and dealt with the situation. A fence and patio furniture was damaged in the blaze.

The fire service also asked Northumbria Police to attend after raising concerns about how it may have started.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “We can confirm we received a report from the fire service about a fire in the garden of a property on St Michael’s Lane in Alnwick.

"Nobody was injured but there was some damage to garden furniture.”

The spokesperson added: "Enquiries are ongoing to establish if any criminal offences have been committed."
