Police car in crash on Alnwick Moor road

UPDATE (11pm): A police car has been involved in a crash on the Alnwick to Rothbury road this evening.

Northumbria Police confirmed to the Gazette that a police vehicle was involved in an accident in the Lemmington crossroads area of the B6341 road across Alnwick Moor at around 8.45pm.

The incident is ongoing and police have advised that motorists avoid the area if possible.

UPDATE (11pm): Police have said the incident is still ongoing with officers at the scene and the B6341 remains closed.

Unconfirmed reports say the fire service has been involved and that ambulances have been seen coming away from the area.

The time of the first call to Northumbria Police has now been revised to 7.18pm.
