Police appeal after overtaking manoeuvre leads to crash

Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Northumberland, in which two vehicles failed to stop.

It happened at 11.34pm on Thursday, January 22, on the A68 one mile north of Kiln Pitt Hill, near Hexham. A vehicle travelling northbound overtook an HGV. A Lexus car travelling in the opposite direction then swerved to the nearside, and came to rest on the grass verge colliding with some large rocks and a tree on the side of the road.

The two occupants of the Lexus suffered minor injuries including a 28-year-old woman who was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary and released following treatment. The other two vehicles did not stop at the scene. The road was closed for 50 minutes while the collision was being dealt with.

Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone who was in the area at the time and may have see the collision. Officers would also like to speak to the drivers of the two other vehicles.
