Police alert after prescribed drugs stolen in Northumberland burglary

Police are warning people of the dangers of taking drugs not prescribed to them after medication was stolen in a burglary in Northumberland.

At around 10am this morning, (Tuesday, March 29), police received a report of a burglary at a house in Sycamore Street, Ashington.


The burglary happened between 8am on Wednesday, March 9, and 2pm on Sunday, March 13. During the burglary, prescribed medication containing a quantity of morphine and dihydrocodine was stolen.

Police are reminding people not to take any medication which is not prescribed for them and if they find any of the stolen drugs, they should call police straight away.


Officers are also appealing for witnesses to the break-in or anyone with information to contact them on 101 quoting reference 283 29/03/16, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
