The annual puffin festival is a celebration of the iconic bird and takes place at the best time of year to see the Coquet Island puffins as they care for their newly-hatched pufflings.

This year’s showcase runs from Saturday, May 28, to Saturday, June 4, and organisers are busy scheduling a range of events for young and old alike.

Highlights announced so far include an arts and handmade craft fair, including community stalls, which will take place on the first four days of the festival.

Amble-based Steve Emberton – who is a world-renowned music photographer, having captured icons like Rod Stewart and Freddie Mercury – will host a series of camera workshops throughout the week.

Other activities include walks and talks, amusements and children’s storytelling.

The first Amble Food Festival and the popular Colony Music Festival will be held on the event’s final day.
