An application to build four detached bungalows has been submitted to Northumberland County Council.
The scheme, by W Brown & Sons, is for land at the former builders’ yard, Bridge End Cottages, Thropton.
As part of the development, the site would be cleared and an existing industrial building demolished.
Access would be via the existing route with the construction of a single internal access road with a T-shaped turning head located centrally within the site.
All of the homes are proposed to have two incurtilage car-parking spaces, plus external garden areas.
A planning statement says that the plan ‘brings forward reuse of a brownfield site within a sustainable village centre’.
