Plans for 71 homes submitted to council

Two planning applications for a total of 71 new homes in Warkworth have been submitted to Northumberland County Council.

Two Castles Housing Association is working with Esh Group on a plan to build 27 affordable homes to rent, on land south of New Barns Court.

Alongside this, Northumberland Estates is proposing 44 private properties, at land south of Morwick Road.

As reported in the Gazette in January, some residents at a public exhibition said that there was a demand for affordable homes, but questioned the need for 71 properties .

They were also concerned that Warkworth’s holiday-home population could increase.

At the time, Barry Spall, from the Estates, said that if approved, they hoped the private and affordable housing would start around the same time and take around two to three years to build.
