A CONTROVERSIAL plan to build a seaside home – branded by one objector as being so big it could be used as a navigational aid for shipping – could be given the nod tonight.
The scheme is for a two-storey, detached house of contemporary design on Harbour Road, in Beadnell, with features including a cinema and roof terrace.
The bid – a revised proposal after a previous one was refused and is currently under planning inspectorate appeal – went before Northumberland County Council’s area planning committee north last month but was deferred for members to carry out a site visit, after concerns were raised.
Submitted by applicant/agent Stephen Miller, Sadler Brown Architecture Ltd, the scheme is back before the committee tonight in Alnwick following the site visit, and planning officers have recommended it for approval, subject to conditions. Residents and the parish council have objected to the scheme.
