The Highways Agency is planning the following roadworks on the A1 in Northumberland over the next week, from tomorrow, to Sunday, April 19.
Alnwick: Alnwick South Bridge refurbishment phase two. The southbound side of the A1 is currently closed near Alnwick while work takes place to refurbish a bridge. Traffic is running in both directions on the northbound carriageway 24 hours a day. Temporary traffic lights are also in use on the A1068 below the bridge. The project is due to be completed by August.
Haggerston to Scremerston: There will be temporary traffic lights in operation north and southbound between 8pm and 6am until the end of April while surveys take place.
Morpeth: There will be a lane closure north and southbound between 8am and 5pm as part of a project to build a new bypass. The lane closures will remain in place until the end of April.
Seaton Burn: Work to improve the junction with the A19 will be ongoing until the end of April. Phases of night-time lane closures and some carriageway closures will take place between 8pm and 6am. A 50mph speed restriction is currently in place.
