Planned roadworks on A1 in Northumberland

A1 Berwick

Traffic signals are in place north and southbound for maintenance work between 8pm and 6am until Friday.

A1 Brownieside

A 24-hour contraflow is in place north and southbound for resurfacing work from today until Sunday, August 21.

Bypass construction work is ongoing until spring 2017. There will be various phases of daytime and night time lane and carriageway closures, with narrow lanes and a 40mph speed restriction in place. There will also be a 24-hour lane closure in place north and southbound until the project is completed.

Roadworks are also in place further afield.

A1 Lamesley to Swalwell, Gateshead

From today until Friday, there will be lane closures north and southbound between junctions 67 and 71. All these closures will take place between 8pm and 6am with diversions in place. The project is due to be completed by the end of August. A temporary 50mph speed limit will also be in place over Blaydon Haugh bridge.

A1M junctions 60 to 61, County Durham

There will be a carriageway closure north and southbound tomorrow, followed by phases of lane closures for structural maintenance, taking place between 8pm and 6am, until Thursday.

A1 junction 56 Barton to junction 51 Leeming Bar

There will be phases of overnight lane closures and full carriageway closures while work takes place to upgrade the road to motorway standards. There will also be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction 24 hours a day. Today and tomorrow there will be a carriageway closure northbound between junction 50 and Scotch Corner, and southbound between Scotch Corner and junction 51. On Wednesday, August 3, and Thursday, August 4, there will be a partial closure of the Scotch Corner roundabout. Then on Friday, August 5, and Saturday, August 6, there will be a closure north and southbound between Scotch Corner and junction 56. All these closures will take place between 8pm and 6am, with diversions in place. The project is due to be completed by summer 2017.

A66 Bowes to Cumbrian border, County Durham

There will be various phases of 24-hour lane closures east and westbound for replacement of the snow poles. This will take place until mid October.

A66 Newsham to East Layton, North Yorkshire

There will be traffic signals in operation east and westbound for survey work from today until Wednesday, August 10, between 8pm and 6am.
