AGE UK Northumberland has private places available across Northumberland for older people who may be thinking about using day centre care.
Day care services for older people who can benefit from the support offered in a friendly group setting are part of a range of services that Age UK Northumberland can offer people as support to stay in their own homes.
Age UK Northumberland day centres are available in Alnwick, Amble, Berwick, Morpeth, Blyth and Seaton Sluice.
Service users are picked up from their own front door and met at the centre by staff and volunteers.
While at the centre there is also the opportunity for the elderly person to speak confidentially to staff members about any worries or concerns they may have about anything.
Day services development manager Elizabeth Simpson said: “Day centres make an important contribution to the lives of older people by acting as a preventative measure for problems caused by lack of social interaction and stimulation.
“Our day centres allow older people to continue to lead an independent life by allowing them independence and dignity through activities and events provided.”
For moe information contact Elizabeth on 0845 1400088. Potential service users will need an assessment in order to access day services. The charge for private attendance at any of the day centres is £25 per day, which includes transport, meals and refreshments.
