Pigeon auction was a flying success
A pigeon auction raised £1,887 for Alnwick's Barndale House School, to help buy new bikes.
It was organised by Ashley Taylor, from Amble, whose brother Levi goes to the school.
With the help of grandad and pigeon fancier Raymond Hume, as well as David Middleton, from the Up North Combine, more than 40 birds were up for auction.
Billy Murphy was the highest bidder for a pigeon (more than £200), while Kevin Winter donated a hamper of supplies.
