The winning images in a competition to find photographs to be displayed in the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital have been announced.
From almost 1,000 entries, a panel of judges selected the winners of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s first photography competition. The images will be exhibited in key locations in the Cramlington-based hospital.
The overall winner, and winner of the Northumbria Coastline category, was Bill Stephens’ image of a man and a boy flying a kite on the beach at Bamburgh Castle, which is pictured above. An image of a puffin by Mark Slavin and one of guillemots by Simmy were joint winners of the wildlife, animals and nature category. The local scenes and landscapes category also had joint winners – the beach huts at Blyth in the snow by Paul White and a corn field by Simon Gakhar. Lea O’Connor won the objects close up category, while Kristian Young won the things that make you smile section.
The images will help people find their way to wards and departments at the new hospital. The winners will be presented with their prizes later this month.
