Club chairman Tommy Mckie said, “We are delighted to welcome Peter to the club. We have an excellent junior set up here at Alnwick Town and Peter will play a key role in moving junior football forward.

“The long established boys section has now been joined with the girls teams meaning we now have 20 teams and hundreds of children representing the club at all age groups.”

Hately said, “ It is a great honour to be asked to undertake this role at the club. I am looking forward to working with all the excellent volunteers who spend their free time to ensure the children of Alnwick can play football in a safe and friendly environment.

“I recognise the strength of junior football in Alnwick and I am determined to help the club find more suitable facilities that meet the needs of the children and the expectations of parents. “This won’t be an easy process and radical changes may be needed, as well as increased community links with the new High School.

“As difficult as this may prove to be, I am determined to help facilitate the provision of the long overdue football facilities this town needs for its young people.”
