Young driver safety event to be held in Alnwick

An event highlighting the importance of road safety to young drivers is being held in Alnwick.

Emergency services are coming together for the event at Alnwick fire station on Monday, June 28 at 6pm.

It is aimed at young drivers and their passengers aged between 14 and 24.

Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service will be in attendance to give a presentation and a live practical of a casualty being extracted from a crashed vehicle.

Northumbria Police’s traffic department will be there highlighting the work of Operation Dragoon, its response to dangerous driving.

And North East Ambulance Service will give a presentation about scenes they have witnessed at road traffic collisions.

St John Ambulance Service, Northumberland Blood Bikes and local driving schools will also be attending, while there will be opportunities to speak to police officers, fire service personnel and paramedics.

Parents are also welcome to attend and take part in the evening.
