Visitors to Northumberland coast spark Coastguard warning over 'inconsiderate parking'

Amble Coastguard has raised concerns after seeing cars parked ‘inconsiderately’ in places on the seafront over the weekend.

The Coastguard has said that in some areas it would have been impossible to gain access with an ambulance or other emergency vehicles if they were needed to attend an incident.

It comes after what was a busy weekend in terms of visitors, with the warm weather drawing crowds to the Northumberland coast.

Thankfully, Amble Coastguard was not needed to attend any incidents on either day.

In a post on their Facebook page, Amble Coastguard Rescue Team said: “We have been out over the weekend carrying out proactive safety patrols.

“The team were out yesterday and today covering our area from Cresswell to Boulmer.

“The coast was busier than usual on both days though thankfully our services have not been required.

“However we did witness some quite inconsiderate parking in places.

“In some areas it would have been impossible to gain access with an ambulance or other emergency vehicles and this causes us concern.

In an emergency we need to gain access to the incident scene as quickly as possible.

"Please continue to use the coast in a safe manner.

“We will be out patrolling regularly so give us a wave or come and have a chat with us, socially distanced naturally!

“If you see anyone in difficulties at sea or on the beach dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
