Triathlon club raises over £1,000 for Alnwick District Food Bank

Alnwick District Triathlon Club has raised over £1,000 for the town’s food bank.

Members swam over eight miles, cycled well over 2,000 miles and ran 130 miles.

Club member Frances Wilde said the event was held to help the food bank buy food and, secondly to bring the club together after a long enforced absence.

He said: “I promise that the money raised will be put to good use. Whilst demand has eased in recent weeks, it is still well above pre-Covid levels and, like many organisations, we

are anxious as to what the future holds.

"The support of our local community, as evidenced here, has been outstanding and gives us confidence that we have the resources to meet demand, should it increase again. We fear this is likely as furlough and other government support eases.”
