Three new members at Alnwick Town Council

Following a co-option process, Gill Castle was selected as councillor for Castle Ward, Sam Frost will represent Clayport Ward and Andy Hunt is a new councillor for Hotspur Ward.
Gill is a familiar face to many residents, having gained recognition for her work supporting women with stomas or who have experienced childbirth trauma.

Hide AdShe said: “I was recently fortunate enough to be awarded the title of Honorary Freeman (woman!) of Alnwick and I am keen to participate on a more active level in our local community. I feel like I have been standing on the sidelines for a long time and am ready to become more involved.”
“I have worked as a lifeguard at Willowburn, am an active litter picker in the town, and have experience in working with some of the most vulnerable members of our community.”

Sam is Northumberland born and bred and has been a resident of Alnwick for the past 16 years, where she has spent time as an Army Cadet instructor and has developed close links with local schools, the community centre, local health professionals and Alnwick Ladies cricket team through her work and outside of work.
She said: “I am keen to be involved in supporting the improvement of our local infrastructure, enhancing recreational facilities and looking at the practicality and sustainability of these.

Andy is already known to many residents because of his active involvement in various local initiatives and organisations such as Alnwick Round Table and his work as technical manager at Alnwick Playhouse.
He said: “I am looking forward to exploring the intricacies of town governance – including budgeting, resource allocation and being involved in the discussions that shape our town’s future.
“I think it is important that all voices are heard and considered in the decision-making processes that affect the quality of life for all residents in Alnwick. I understand that there are many challenges facing our town and I am particularly passionate about community outreach and event/project work.”
