A cafe has launched a petition to support their case for planning permission before a key council meeting next week.

Tea in the Paddock, located between Stobhill and Guide Post, is a thriving cafe-bistro known for hosting community events.

The business had put up a pergola to shelter their outdoor seating during pandemic restrictions which prevented dining indoors.

After assurance from the council at the time that planning permission would not be a problem, getting the retrospective approval has become a long running and expensive saga for 60 year old owner Una Young.

She says the council declined to visit her premises before indicating her application would be recommended for refusal, and accused them of “being bullies.”

The petition was launched on Tuesday, November 8 in a bid to highlight support for the cafe’s cause, and already has over 1,200 signatures.

The planning committee meeting to decide the fate of the cafe’s pergola is on Monday, November 14.
