It will remain feeling cold, especially in and around the showers, with a maximum temperature of 3 °C.

And the snow ahead comes after a flood warning and two flood alerts issued by the Environmental Agency for coastal areas across Sunderland as Storm Ciara caused strong winds that have caused a surge in high tides.

Areas most at risk are properties along the seafront in Roker and Seaburn including the Amusement Arcades and Grannie Annies.
