Seahouses RNLI volunteer praised for 'amazing' efforts in getting crew ready for new £2.2m lifeboat

Julie Harris was presented with a certificate of excellence in volunteering on behalf of the RNLI and Seahouses lifeboat crew.

She has carried out the role of station training co-ordinator, and has worked tirelessly to arrange all of the recent crew training.

Seahouses received a new Shannon Class all weather lifeboat last October.

Thanks to Julie's efforts, including many hours in the planning, the crew were graded as competent to operate the new craft by the end of December. The old Mersey Class boat was then withdrawn.

Operations manager Ian Clayton said: "The station owes Julie a tremendous debt of gratitude for her amazing organisational skills and efforts, which have got the crew to a position where we are now.

"No-one should underestimate the time and effort that she has put in, and she rightly and justly received a powerful round of applause from her appreciative crew colleagues at her presentation.”
