Shops in the centre of Alnwick are putting an ‘out-of-place object’ in their window display with residents and visitors challenged to try and spot it.

The competition will help Lionheart Radio to meet its running costs as it nears its 13th anniversary.

“This is an important month for Lionheart Radio,” said Anne Howie, Lionheart Radio station organiser.

“We’re raising funds not only to keep on the air, but to give young people of all backgrounds access to radio and media.

“We run a variety of programmes from motorsport through brass band music to oldies and blues.

“It’s only through the support of our listeners that we’re able to continue and we’re very grateful for all the support we get.

“Go window spotting and you’ll not only have fun, you’ll be keeping us on the air and helping the next generation of broadcasters.”

Entry forms are available from participating retailers and from Lionheart Radio, 27 Fenkle Street.

The fun begins on Thursday, March 5 and will run until the end of the month when the winners will be chosen.

The top prize is a studio photo session with a prize of £30 to spend in the participating shops for the runner up.

As a community station, Lionheart is financed through public donations and grants. Everyone at the station is a volunteer, but ultimately there are still costs associated with licensing, rent and insurance that need to be met.

Donations can be made online through www.lionheartradio.com
