'Phenomenal' demand for Lilidorei play village tickets ahead of opening in Alnwick

An amazing 3,500 tickets were snapped up on the first day of release by visitors keen to see the attraction, dubbed the world’s biggest play structure and adventure village.

The £15.5m project is the brainchild of the Duchess of Northumberland, who wanted to create a magical land filled with clan houses, secret sounds, and visual attractions.

The hidden wonderland is designed to encourage children to use their own imagination to uncover the secrets of Lilidorei and its many clans, who plan for Christmas all year round.

Emily Craig, Lilidorei’s digital marketing officer, said: “Our latest offering, Lilidorei, has received a phenomenal response even before it is open, and we are anticipating thousands more to book in for the summer. We are truly humbled by the interest we have received from everyone.

“The anticipation from the public is more than we expected, and we are thrilled to have sold so many tickets already. Considering Lilidorei hasn't opened yet and people only have our social media teasers to go off it's incredible to see so many visitors equally as excited as us for it to open.”

Throughout Lilidorei, children will be encouraged to create their own narrative and explore the world of the nine clans made up of Sprites, Elves, Fairies, Pixies, Goblins, Hobgoblins, Trolls, Dwarves, and Squiffles, who all live together under the ruling of Lord Elfwin – king of Lilidorei.

Children can visit Elfwin Drin - the world’s largest play structure, take part in daily activities and join in with stories, all helped by the ‘Secret Keeper’ guides.

Elfwin Drin is 26 metres tall with 170 metres of rope bridges and six slides, surrounded by individual homes to the clans, and a gaol (for naughty elves) all policed under the watchful eye of the Squiffles.

The lower level of the play structure and magical village is accessible to all and there are mushroom and cupcake-shaped cafes and food stalls for parents to relax in as their children play.

With sustainability being imperative to the structure, the whole village has been crafted from natural materials and is plastic free, surrounded by 1300 Nordic Christmas trees to create a permanent forest which will light up in the evenings.

Ms Craig added: “With its unrivalled location at The Alnwick Garden, Lilidorei is already one of the most anticipated attractions in the North East and we are looking forward to welcoming visitors from far and wide to our magical village.”

Each session lasts two hours 45 minutes and guests can book one of three sessions between 9am and 7pm.
