Peter's Mill photos from over 100 years ago reveal how Alnwick housing development site once looked

As a major new housing development in Alnwick takes shape, a reader has sent in pictures of how the site looked over a century ago.

Jenifer Friend said: “As there is quite an interest in the development at Peter’s Mill, I thought readers might be interested in these photographs showing the mill itself and the Mill House.

“The mill belonged to Peter Eadington and it’s his sister (according to my aunt, Elsie Baxter nee Tears) standing in front of the house.

“My great grandfather George Cockburn, was the manager of the mill and he acquired the lease of Lough House (not shown and currently boarded up) which is 100 yards west of the river, in 1901.”

She also says her great aunts are pictured at the stepping stones.
