Northumberland Mini driver caught speeding at 98 miles per hour on A1

A motorist has admitted speeding at 98 miles per hour on the A1 in a Mini.

David Curtis, 48, of West Parade, Alnwick, exceeded the 70 miles per hour limit on the Felton Bypass, in Northumberland, by 28 miles per hour.

Magistrates have now handed him four penalty points and ordered him to pay a £186 fine, £32 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.

Curtis, who admitted committing the offence on December 10 last year, did not appear at Sunderland Magistrates’ Court to learn the outcome.
