“Many of our own staff have been redeployed from their day jobs to support vital services. Others continue to work on the frontline, keeping our vital services running and making sure those in need are protected and cared for.

“I have heard wonderful stories of the tireless work being done by key workers in Northumberland - it truly embodies the spirit of our great county and leaves me in no doubt that we will come through this even stronger.

“As a resident of Northumberland, I want to say a heartfelt thank you each and every key worker in our county.”

“I am extremely proud of how we have pulled together across Northumberland and North Tyneside to continue to deliver the highest quality of health and care services, amid immensely challenging circumstances.

“Alongside our partners in primary care, local authorities, social care and nursing homes, as well as those caring for people in their own homes, we have collectively responded to the increased demands on our services to serve our communities with aplomb.

“Our trust has also demonstrated leadership, innovation and what partnership working can achieve – an excellent example of this is our PPE manufacturing hub we have set up in Cramlington.

He continued: “While the pandemic has taken its toll on NHS workers across the country, I am pleased that the initiatives we put in place to support our staff’s health and wellbeing, along with our feedback channel to enable them to express their views and feelings, have had a positive impact, and helped them to cope with the additional pressures.

“Of course, all that we have accomplished together would not have been possible without the support of fellow key workers in schools and in the supply chain and local businesses, communities and individuals – a heartfelt thanks to you all.”
