Northern Soul Kitchen to close West Street premises this weekend ahead of move to new location in Berwick
A social enterprise in Berwick will soon be closing its current premises ahead of a move to a new location in the town.
The last day for Northern Soul Kitchen (NSK), which intercepts perfectly decent but unsold food and turns it into delicious meals, at 19 West Street is this Saturday, April 18.
It will be moving to 103 Marygate following a very successful Crowdfunder that raised more than £14,000.
This was required because last year, it announced that it was seeking alternative premises as its lease at the West Street premises was to run out in spring 2026.

The NSK team will be renovating both the upstairs and downstairs areas and hope to use upstairs for events, pop-ups, supper clubs, community collaborations, meeting space and more.
A post on the Northern Soul Kitchen Facebook page states that the West Street closure will enable the team “to concentrate on getting 103 Marygate ready for the season”.
It also says: “We have stayed open during renovating as long as we can, but folks it ain't easy as we are tight on the budget enough without covering two sets of bills.
“That being said, we need you now more than ever. Please make these final days at West Street busy ones so we can go out with a bang and save up for a small period of closure.
“We are beyond grateful to you all for all the kind words and all of you showing up for us – none of it is going unnoticed, thank you so much.”
The 103 Marygate premises were previously occupied by independent toy retailer Treetop Toys, which closed in January.
