Meals on Wheels up and running

Stobhill Bait has been operating for a couple of years. It is run by Shaun Ullock and his 21-year-old stepdaughter Hollie Elliott, with support from Sam, Shaun's wife and Hollie's mother.

After doing some initial deliveries and raising awareness of the service, it officially launched its Meals on Wheels offering last month.

Hot meals are delivered to the customer’s door, covering the whole Morpeth town area, seven days a week. It costs £5 for a main and pudding. Options include mince and dumplings, soup, lasagne, curry, chilli con carne, bangers and mash, hot meat sandwiches and light bites.

Shaun said: “All our food is home-made and fresh, and we also make traditional puddings.

“The service is aimed at OAPs, adult social service users and those living with disabilities or who require carers.

“We have the full support of the Stobhill Link organisation, Morpeth Mayor Alison Byard, Heather Allibaster (of the Golden Guide), local county councillor John Beynon, local churches and county council departments, as well as several private care companies.

“This service has been lacking in the area for some time and will be a great benefit to not only customers, but in a lot of cases carers as it will allow them to spend more one-to-one time with their clients instead of preparing meals.”
