Launching rig enables Seahouses RNLI crew to train for arrival of new lifeboat
and live on Freeview channel 276
A tractor and launching rig, known as the Shannon Launch and Recovery System (SLARS), returned on Wednesday having been withdrawn due to Covid-19 precautions.
Training will restart next week for the boat and shore crews so they will be able to safely and efficiently operate the complex equipment.

Hide AdSeahouses lifeboat operations manager Ian Clayton said: “It was good to see the rig back on station, and training will start in earnest next week, in preparation for the boat’s arrival on October 18.
"We would also like to thank the North Sunderland Harbour Commissioners, for their cooperation to facilitate the unit’s return.
"It’s an exciting time for us all here at Seahouses lifeboat station.”
The unit will temporarily be stored at the concrete apron beside the station.
