Information boards helping to put the spotlight on Berwick and Spittal

A set of eye-catching creations are being installed across the Berwick area.

Visit Berwick-upon-Tweed has led a project to install new information boards at key locations including next to the bridges and play areas in collaboration with Berwick-Upon-Tweed Town Council.

As well as the ones already in place, additional boards in places such as the B&M car park, the Greenses Walk and the Parade car park will be installed by Fantasy Prints over the coming days.

Explaining the idea behind them, a post on the Visit Berwick-upon-Tweed Facebook page states: “Designed to help residents and visitors discover more about the area, the boards provide an introduction to both Spittal and Berwick’s rich heritage – highlighting nearby historic landmarks and featuring detailed maps to help people orientate themselves and explore other places of interest in the surrounding area.

“We hope these new boards will encourage people to engage with the fascinating history and landscape around them, while making it easier to discover everything the area has to offer.

“Historical information was researched and fact-checked with the support of local historians Derek Sharman and Dr Nathan Hood, helping to ensure the content is both accurate and accessible.”

Other contributors were also mentioned in the post. The mapping and illustrations were created by Tania Willis, with copywriting by Colette Kaines Lang and content development and copywriting by Liberty Holloway.

In addition, layout and design for the boards were produced by Sue Rudge Design.
