Illuminations switch-on as Northumberland village gets right into the festive spirit

Local residents turned out in force to watch the Christmas lights get switched on in Etal on Sunday.

There was mulled wine and mince pies for spectators and a small gift for every child.

A new nativity scene has been carved by wood sculptor Tom Fiddes for this year’s display using poplar trees from Ford and Etal Estate and funded by Fastflow.

It will be the Hay Farm Christmas market on Sunday, December 22 when there will be a chance to browse local craft stalls, enjoy some warming festive resfreshments, take a Christmas carriage ride and wave Santa off on his Christmas journey at 2.30pm.
