Hundreds of people packed Ashington’s streets to say goodbye to football legend Jack Charlton as the World Cup final winner’s funeral cortege made its way through his home town.

Here is a selection of images from an emotional occasion on Tuesday, July 21, as Northumberland and the wider North East paid tribute to a local hero who never forgot his roots.
