Fancy dress walker presents fund-raising proceeds to Northumberland charity
Professional fire-walking instructor John Young has handed over funds raised when he was out and about providing a little laughter during lockdown.
The Christon Bank resident stepped out on a seven mile walk over 13 consecutive weeks – all done it in a different costume.
He admitted to receiving ‘a lot of strange looks’ but was also taken aback by the money generously donated both online and by local people stopping him on the route he took.
Now, he has presented a cheque for £1,370 to Paul Harrison, centre operations manager at Bell View, the Belford based charity which provides services for older people in north Northumberland
"I wanted the money to go back into the local community to help our older generations, so after a discussion with our local authority we decided to donate the fund to Bell View in Belford,” said John.
He would like to thank everyone who supported him.
