Colleagues say final farewells to student paramedic as her loved ones gather for her funeral

Bosses of the North East Ambulance Service have led a new tribute to one of their team members who died aged 24.

Georgia Barron was in her second year at the University of Sunderland as she studied to become a paramedic, spending her placements with its staff, while she also worked for the service as an ambulance care assistant.

Today, as they gather for her funeral, NEAS has shared a new tribute as they remember her.

A spokesperson said: “We said a fond farewell to one of our own today.

"A cherished daughter, sister, auntie, friend and colleague, Georgia Barron, sadly passed away on Saturday, May 15.

"Remembering her today, colleagues and friends said of Georgia, ‘She was a much-loved colleague and friend to us all.

"’She had a long and successful life ahead of her.

"’She had a contagious excitement about studying to be a paramedic and was bursting with pride.

"’Everyone who had the pleasure of meeting Georgia knew that she was ambulance service through and through.

"’She always managed to put a smile on both her colleagues and patients’ faces.’”

They added the family of Georgia, who lived in Wallsend, is extremely grateful for all the help and support they have received and have now requested privacy to allow them to grieve in peace.
