Beadnell Parish Council will double its charges over the next three years, starting in July 2020. A single burial plot is currently £250.

The decision was taken after the council was left with a bill for £1,256 for an inspection of the cemetery’s memorials and trees. Coun Jen Hall said: “We are very cheap and always have been, but given that we’re going to have to continue inspecting and perhaps get more work done, although the memorials themselves are the families’ responsibility, I would suggest we double the prices over the next three years.”
